"what are you hooked on Friday" ... just for fun.
You can post about anything you are hooked on ... anything you love.
So in the 1970s I was hooked on this dress. As you can see my mum is quite a sewer ... hence she has a dress. I have a dress and my wee baby blister sister has a dress. All made with love by mum.
I still love this material to this very day. My boys have some in their material box for making dresses for ted and Dora.
I use to wear that dress to all the neighbourhood parties and feel oh so grown up. This was The Gap, Brisbane, Queensland Australia in the late 70s ... all very funky, inclusive and laid back.
Check out my footwear too - trend setter indeed.
And my darling brothers in their little boy shorts. And what about that mustache on dear ole dad !
So I am hooked on memories from a simpler, more relaxed time. And of the love my mum showed us each and every day. Hooked on happiness ! le xoxo
PS now head back here and see what other dear bloggers are hooked on - ya :)

22 notes:
You all look gorgeous. I can see why you just loved that dress. I wonder whether my Blossom would want to dress up the same as me?
What is it with the 70s and photos taken in front of curtains. Is it just me or was it a 'thing' back then?
LOVED this post-I had the same kind of mom--and the same type of dress except mine had butterflies, and I think if I could touch the fabric I would feel like I was eight again.
I think it was always in front of the curtains cos the wall paper was soooo over the top !!
So Lorrie where is your pic ...
I was trying to find another image too - brown material with like a fried egg pattern all over - dresses for us three girls and shirst for the three boys - totally groovey man !!
I LOVE it! What a great photo. I have a dress I remember fondly from about that age, too, with polka dots all over it. How fun that you all had matching dresses.
Thanks for playing along with the Hooked on Fridays party, Le! -Julia :-)
Dotted Swiss!! That was the name of the fabric that was 'beautiful' for any occastion!
I am hooked on keeping in touch with you gurlz, hooked on watching my kid change (in good ways) hooked on too much coffee, hooked on college football right now, hooked on the cooking channel, hooked on Quelque Fleur perfume, hooked on the change in the weather right now, and I know I'll be hooked on that damn Snickers Kwr221 suggested if I could find them. thats about it.
what the hell is Jacaranda????
You look great! Love the family pic, the boys look as interested as my brother use to in photos.. LOL.
I like my memories too..
Thank you also for the lovely comment on my blog.. really appreciated.
Hello Le....gorgeous photo! My mum made us matching dresses too and if I was really lucky, my doll got one too. Glad you had a good time watching cable in Airlie (my ancestral home!)
See you soon
HI girls ...
BJ - a jacaranda is a tree - purple flowers - just divine - esp for the purple carpet the fallen flowers create underneath - just delightful :) le
OH MY! There is now abslutely no doubt as to the stronger of the gene pools in your boys!! And I luurve the
mo on your Dad! I also had matching dresses with my sister but I don't think we ever had a match with Mum.

ps...thanks for the visit!!
Nice photo!! I don't recall ever having matching dresses with my mom but my mom used to make things like dresses and nightgowns for me and would make matching ones for my favorite cabbage patch dolls. How cute is that?!?
Great post and nice to meet you today, Le!

Swisher Sweetie (Wendy)
too cute! Every picture we have from that era was taken in front of gold silk curtains. Must of been "the thing" :)
I love this! I too had a dress I loved back then with minnie mouse all over it. I wore it until my mom said it was too short LOL

I had a very similar dress and my doll had one the same. I was a little younger ;) Oh yes, and the photo in front of the curtain. And Dad had the full beard option.
OHHH MYYY this is such a universal theme ... I think we need an offical flash back friday - and we can all post and link our funky childhood - teen years fashion moments - I will organsie it ...
