Well today I am joining the holiday house tour coordinated by Julia from Hooked on Houses. After you have had a wee read here, then click back to Julia's place and see the next Christmassy blogger.Getting ready for this has been good for me. I have been back thru xmas photos right to 2000. It made me recall all the wonderful things associated with this season. I was in need of that as this year has been a topsy turvey crapolla ride, in a professional sense and it crossed over into non work le too. As it does ...
Anyways enough navel gazing, here are a selection of images from around our home - enjoy.
Here is our front door - welcome. This wreath was a gift from the gutter. While out on my morning walk two weeks ago I spied it amongst some other discarded items.
Keeping with my new theory on re-cycle, re use and live frugally I took it home, along with a red bucket and some car wash. It looks grand.

Above it hangs the Christmas decoration made by our five year old at school this first week of December.
I think it is really important to incorporate the family into Christmas and allow the boys to express their Christmas spirit, their way.

On that note here is the hallway door ...
Hearts by Darling Boy, aged four, stocking and Christmas tree by First Born.

Moving to our tree.
Here are the ornaments made by the boys in 2007.

Another thing I like to do is have a wee bit of Christmas in each room.
Before we found the new front door wreath, this was the one I made. It now hangs on the french doors leading out to the deck. Could use a 'fresh up', but hey ....

One of the most significant aspects of Christmas for me is the communication that it affords.
So I love the cards :)
Here are my fav to date. The silver on the left is made by First Born. It was presented with such pomp and ceremony, I will never forget it.
The one on the right is from my brother, his wife and the four cousins. They live about 25km from us and we will see them on Christmas day .... but I love the fact we still send a card to each other. The glittery balls made me smile.

This is our advent calender. I found it last year and it is so cute. And it so works for our family. The boys are gluten free, sugar free children, so the commercial chocie ones don't cut it for us.
This one has a little door for each day. You open the door and hang the ornament on the tree. It also winds up and plays Christmas music. I found it at the January sales and it was a total barga
in. The boys love it.Closing with our tree. It is wearing it's pink, purple and gold colourways this year.
I have about four different colourways and move between them throughout the years.
Well that is it for now.
Except to say Merry Christmas and wish you the best for 2009.
Many hugs le
PS I forgot to mention that Julia is giving away three prizes, one for the best blog post and two to those who leave comments ... just thought you should know :) Go here to read more.

15 notes:
Le - I keep meaning to ask you 1) What do you think of Sassy Kathy? Have you followed her? I love how she utilizes her blog space. I've adopted some of her ideas. Also, what do you think of Chuck's idea as a whole? I've been pleased with the quality of blogs he's chosen. I keep thinking eventually he'll choose one I just hate.
Finally, did you read Penelope's last post about celebrities? Is she joking?
almost forgot to comment about your post. Geez. OK - I love the cotton-ball adorned "stocking." Kids Christmas crafts are the best and over the years mean more and more. One year, our dog chewed up Juliette's pinecone turkey from kindergarten. It had googley eye, pipe cleaner legs and feathers. I cried for an hour and screamed at the dog.
Of course, I have a Christmas package for you, Le, and need your address. It is very small, so please, don't feel obligated by my gesture!!!
I haven't put out a single holiday item this year, and I may not bother. It's not that I'm not it the mood, but since I'm the only person who will see them, it seems silly to get decorations out of the attic only to put them back a month later.
Your house looks very festive.
I just occurred to me how odd it would feel to me to celebrate Christmas in the middle of summer. Do people still sing "White Christmas" and "Let It Snow"?
I'm nervous now that I'm thinking like Kreg but I too was wondering about the heat during Christmas time....but that is all you know, right?
Your house looks great, and love the reclaimed wreath. I have saved every morsel from M2s artwork and have it here and there. Makes me happy. Enjoy your countdown and cheers to a grand 2009.
xxoo
Your house looks warm, happy and full of love--as I knew it would. I love the star on top of your tree!
Okay, I have to say I love that you recycled that wreath "from the gutter."
I love Christmas cards, too, but not as many people seem to be sending them anymore, do they? Or maybe they're just not sending them to ME?
That advent calendar is fun. My daughter would love that. She'd also flip over the pink, purple, and gold tree. Those are the colors she wanted me to use this year, but I didn't want to start all over with my decorations. I told her she could have her own little table-top tree next year.
Thanks for joining the party, Le! -Julia :-)
Thanks for the tour! I love cards too - but seem to get fewer and fewer each year. I think they're a dying tradition.
That's a cute advent calendar. I also love cards yet every year I seem to be getting less. I guess it's a bit costly when you have to stamp them all. Thank you for the tour!
I love your children's art and that you include it in your Christmas decorating. Beautiful tree...and thanks for stopping by the painted house!
I love the kids art the best too. My doors and refrigerator are covered with them.
I love the kids art :-) Thanks for having us all over.
Your kid's stuff is so cute!
Thanks for inviting us in. I love the kids art the best also.
I love the purple and gold on the tree! It all looks very pretty! Thanks for sharing your home with all of us!
-Kim
I love that card too... very pretty! ENJOY the holiday season! Fifi
