Holy Crap

Well looks like we have underestimated the fury of fire yet again ... this was a Victorian backyard and child's play area.

Over 80 people dead and counting, 700 homes razed to the ground and the fires burn on. Bricks explode, whole towns with 100 year plus histories are gone and the arsonist lights up again. Damn you, you complete nutter.

The skies turned black, the fireballs came down and showed no mercy. Deliberately lit, how dare you. My fury at your actions is causing tears in my eyes and a bad taste in my mouth.

Le,
I'm trying to figure out how close this is to you, aren't you in Queensland? California has had these type of arson fires too, but I don't think we lost that many people- that is just beyond sad.

And what is wrong with the person that would do this.....

take care- thinking of everyone down under,
Bj

Oh, wow. I'm speechless about this. It's so terrible. 80 people?! 700 homes?! Heartbreaking.

I hope that the justice system there is better than here, and once they catch this nut job he will be on trial for murder and more. This is just horrific. I am praying that everyone in Australia remains safe.

Girls, the fires are four days drive away from us ... but the magnitude of loss makes it seem like next door.

Thanks ever so much for your thoughtful words, kind thoughts and prayers - le xoxo

"Nutter" is too nice a word for those murderers, for thats what they are. 108 now dead.

Just. Can't. Understand who would do this.

Then found out that a friend of mine's cat was burnt (the vet suspects kero and set alight) during the weekend.

There are so many sick people in this world.

le - isn't it shocking.

Just remember - not all were deliberately lit - some lightning strikes were also believed to be involved.

My cousin lost her home last night. Razed to the ground. She lost everything she owned. Blessed be that she is safe.

An absolute tragedy. It is still so incompehensible that so many lives and homes have been lost.

It is beyond words Le. People are traumatised. I lived through the Canberra bushfires and over 200 houses in my suburb were destroyed. It was terrifying but I cannot imagine having flames coming at you at 120 kph and circled by them. Nowhere to run or hide. Horrible stories are emerging and of course there are many heroes as well. I am heading to St Vincent de Paul today to help pack goods for survivors. Lets hope they catch the mass murderers they think lit half the fires and pray like hell for those affected and for the people still fighting the fires. And then we have floods up in Qld too - global warming.

I don't think anyone could have predicted this one.
